My friend sent me a link to this article, “Here’s Why You’re Still Single Based on Your Myers-Briggs Personality Type” which I immediately knew would be up my alley. Singleness? Personality tests? Self-awareness? Yes please to everything.
I scrolled down to INFJ….and barked a surprised laugh before staring open-mouthed at my phone.
Trust issues? Yes, I DO have them. And what have I told long-suffering friends over and over again? I just want to meet someone I KNOW, someone who’s family I KNOW, someone who is familiar and not new and exciting. I want someone with a background check, because I’m terrified meeting someone new means meeting heartbreak (or a serial killer).
Anyway, since it was painfully accurate for me (and for my friend, an ESFJ), I thought I’d share it here. If you don’t know your Myers-Briggs personality type, go to “16 Personalities” and take their test. Then you are ready to find out why you are single!

I’m with you on having to learn to trust. Thanks for sharing this! This helps me understand why I met the guy I’m dating on the train two years ago, but wasn’t interested in him until six months ago. 🙂 I’ve worked on my trust issues with a counselor and just took the leap and went on a bunch of casual dates to practice. Now I’m learning to trust my boyfriend deeper. I wish you the best on your journey!

That’s an awesome story, and definitely encouraging for me to hear. The only way to learn how to trust is to practice trusting people–by going on casual dates, by opening up to a counselor, by risking a deeper relationship with your boyfriend. Knowing that you’ve had success working on your trust issues makes me more confident that I can work on mine!

I just took the test to find out what i was…ENFP-A … it didnt get the introvert/extrovert thing right, but i love that i’m “still single” because i’m as flighty as a goldfish! Perfect!

Maybe you’re borderline introvert/extrovert. Some people call that being an ambivert. I mean, I trust that you know yourself well, but I also have an unhealthy devotion to online quizzes. 🙂

I took the quiz b/c i was intrigued…and found out I was ENFP-A. My all time fav though is that I’m “still single” because I’m as flighty as a goldfish! Oh..my life. Love it.
