TODAY’S FIVE:  things I miss while roadtripping

No surprise here:  I miss my cuddly little furbucket every single day.  Life is just so much more enjoyable when I wake up to a purring cat sitting by my head, who follows me around during the day, sits on me whenever possible, and puts his tiny beanfoot on my face to get my attention.

I had partially planned that this month-long separation would prepare me to leave him for a year when I move to Greece, but instead I’m just dreading it even more.

2|  Video Games

This one is a bit weird, because I wasn’t even playing a game before I left.  But I’ve found myself desperately wanting to play Dragon Age.  I can only assume that sitting for hours at a time (while driving) is triggering muscle memories of former video game binges.  I’d rather be staring a compelling storyline unfolding before my avatar than at road…road…more road.

3|  Making Money

Money

Although I put most of the money I made while being Woodland’s secretary into my Greece donations, it was comforting to know there was a little money making its way into my bank account.  And while I did that with the express purpose of paying for this road trip, I hate spending money knowing my bank account is shrinking and shrinking.  The people hosting me on this trip have been SUPER generous, providing free meals and lodging, so I shouldn’t complain.  But I am.

4|  Dunlap Public Library

My copy of Mindy Kaling’s new book came into the library last week….but I cannot get it!  Plus, it’s October, the month of new fall releases, and I’m stuck listening to old audiobooks like someone who isn’t obsessed with books.  It’s very sad.

5|  Family and Friends

I’m loving seeing old friends, but I miss those who are still in Peoria!  If I were a superviillain, I would attach a trailer to my car and just kidnap all the people I love, forcing them to come with me everywhere I go.  The most pathetic supervillain ever, but then, aren’t they always desperate for love?  *coughLokicough*

Notable Exceptions:  I don’t miss my Peoria routine, and I don’t miss having more clothes/makeup/whatever than what can fit in a suitcase.  Simplicity and adventure for the win!
