Can’t stop, won’t stop…listening to podcasts.
I recommended five my favorite podcasts in May and another five in August. The wait times between rec posts are shrinking because there are SO MANY great podcasts out there. It’s getting to be quite difficult to put all this great material into my ears, but I try. Hopefully you’ll find something you want to try listening to during your commuting, cooking, or cleaning times!
Imaginary Worlds stands out amongst hour+ long podcasts by being between 20-25 minutes each episode. Host Eric Molinsky delves into all things fantasy and science fiction, sometimes veering historical, other times cultural or just flat-out nerdy. Some of my favorite episodes include “Heroines,” “Politics of Thrones,” “Undertale,” and “Fantasy Maps.”
2| My Brother, My Brother And Me
Lin-Manuel Miranda mentioned this podcast in the Hamiltome, and well…I try everything that LMM recommends. This podcast is HILARIOUS, and the more I listen to it, the more infatuated I become with these weirdo brothers and their ongoing in-jokes. The main premise of the show is that they answer people’s Yahoo! questions with mostly horrible advice, but their tangents are just as great as when they stay on point.
3| The Room Where It’s Happening
I already mentioned Lin-Manuel Miranda, and I hadn’t even gotten to the Hamilton podcast! Travon Free and Mike Drucker host this super-fan podcast where they get celebrities like Kristen Chenoweth, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Adam Savage to gush about how much they love Hamilton. It’s constantly inspiring. The true highlight, though, is when they get actual Hamilton performers to join the show. So far they’ve gotten the actress who plays Peggy/Maria and the actor who plays Laurens/Philip, but I have no doubt that LMM will be on soon. They’re also gunning hard for President Obama to do the “One Last Time” episode. It’s a celebrity-packed Hamilton love-fest, and if that doesn’t interest you, I don’t know what else to say.
I’ve talked about the Enneagram personality test quite a bit on this blog, and this podcast is the catalyst for my renewed obsession! Hosts Ian Cron and Suzanne Stabile interview someone from each of the nine personality types each week, and it is fascinating to see the themes of the enneagram play on in people’s diverse lives. If you’re a personality nerd, this podcast is for you.
Recommended by my friend Kimberly over on my Harry Potter blog (friendly reminder to check that out), I am currently racing through their old episodes in sheer delight. Two friends geeking out about Harry Potter in an intelligent and critical way is MY JAM. I especially love their segments on Harry as an unreliable narrator and Hermione as the consistently best character of anything, ever.
I almost regret asking this, because like I said, limited time! But I will anyway. What podcasts do you listen to? Are there any that you think I would enjoy?

So, most of the podcasts I’ve been listening to lately are ones that you’ve recommended but I do have a couple other favorites. 😀 If you’re familiar with The West Wing, The West Wing Weekly is amazing! I’m not sure how much you’d get out of it if you’re not familiar with the show though. The Alton Browncast is great, and not always directly about food. Star Talk Radio is pretty entertaining and educational. If you like food, The Splendid Table is a good one. We also listen to a lot of the Dave Ramsey show, and it feels like we might actually know something about money! I also have a few suggestions if you’re interested in pregnancy and childbirth. 😀

I still need to watch The West Wing (and then listen to the podcast)! What’s Star Talk Radio about?

West Wing is a must watch! You can listen to the podcast as you watch each episode, they make a point to not spoil future plots as they discuss the episodes.
StarTalk is hosted by Neil deGrasse Tyson (and others) and talks about space, physics, and other science-y stuff in ways that makes it easy to understand. He usually has a co-host, and occasionally has celebrities on as special guests. I haven’t listened to a whole lot of them yet but some of my favorites have been the Cosmic Queries episodes, where they answer listener’s questions.
Do you instagram much? I would be interested in a who-to-follow recommendation post!

I’m going to start downloading West Wing right now. 😀 It might be next week before I start watching, but I’ll let you know what I think!
And THANK YOU for the request. I’ll definitely put up an Instagram rec post!
